Module Class:
Metalworking: Not your high school shop class
This Module Class is led by Lad Hudac. I intend to invoke the energy of the season (Fall) to teach about the “Metal Element” (a la Chinese Medicine) the Lungs. I will speak much about the breath and just how one gathers qi weaving in the bountiful presence of it all around them.
Metalworking is a class that covers the key foundational aspects of the “metal element” (Lungs) within the Classical Chinese Medicine tradition. Discussion will include the “Lungs” as a qi-based concept in Chinese medicinal theory as well as their relationship to the qi-body as a whole. We will discuss the importance of the Lungs in the season of autumn as well as some of the acupuncture anatomy that can be used to build and tonify the Lungs during the season.
I will incorporate the use of the lungs as a mechanism of weiqi for the purposes of pulling in qi and using it to regulate the bodily mechanism. This will include discussion about the immune system, and how it functions in Chinese Medicinal Theory, as well as how the Lungs – and their connection to weiqi - help to regulate the Earth element (the spleen). This is also timely due to the fact we will be transitioning seasons, and the Spleen is also more invoked during these times.
The module will complete with a guided practice to begin to feel the difference between fully tonified lungs, and lungs that are less than full tonified as well as possibly experiencing what an enhanced and cleared weiqi field feels like. This will all be a function of the attendees ability to perceive and feel qi.
Exercises we will utilize:
Purgation (will only do this outside)
Directed connections to acupuncture points of the attendees with their permission through my direct guidance and showing the attendees how to activate these points themselves.
Prompts on how to tonify the Lungs as an organ system. I will NOT be using the “lung exercise” of the Dao Yin.
Class is intended to be an outdoor experience
