The shadow-box style many people make today is often called a retablo or nicho: a small shrine-like box that frames photos, candles, charms and keepsakes.

Retablo Memory Box Workshop

Create a personal retablo memory box inspired by Day of the Dead.

Guided step-by-step, you’ll build a small light-up memory box to honor someone you love (person, pet, or special milestone), adding photos, text, paint, keepsakes, and meaningful objects.

All levels welcome.

Week 1: Construct and paint your box; sculpt interior elements with oven-bake clay (Sculpey).

Week 2: Embellish and personalize your memorial piece.
Bring: A person/pet/occasion in mind, plus small photos or keepsakes
